Of course there are good reasons for a limo or party bus in certain instances, but in a lot of cases, a trolley rental will elevate your event to the next level. Our trolleys also fall under the limo law, which means you CAN drink abroad our trolleys—you just have to provide the alcohol! We offer two drink packages, either you bring everything you need (just no glass cups, please) OR we provide coolers, ice, cups, bartending tools, and anything else you need, and you simply provide the drinks!

We’ve touched on this briefly already, but here at Old Fashioned Express we have four trolleys that are just seeping with charm! From the rounded windows, to the brass fixtures, wooden seats, and a working bell, trolleys are like stepping back in time.

While we have three gorgeous red trolleys (Ruby, Olly, and Wally), we have a green trolley named Molly who is one of the original Toonerville Trolleys! She has been meticulously cared for, and features brass fixtures and wooden accents on her body, with yellow glass that lets mellow, ambient light into her stunning interior. She’s not only a piece of history, she is charm itself—harkening back to when Louisvillians rode trolleys as a way of life.

Limousines and party buses tend to be bulky and black, with neon lights, and for a fun night out that can be perfect! But for something that needs a little more finesse and charm (like a for a wedding or prom!), you simply can’t beat a trolley.

Trolleys Are An Incredible Background for Photos

Picture this—you’re on your way to get married, all your friends and family are dolled up in their best outfits and you in your wedding dress or tux, and you stop by St. James Court to take photos among the historic houses, the antique fountain, and the gorgeous trolley you rented! (This visual works great for prom parties too!) The glamour of your outfits fits perfectly with the glamour of the trolley!

Maybe your future husband dramatically drapes you in his arms on the back of Molly the Trolley, creating a stunning, one of a kind wedding photo. This built-in photo background is also just as stunning as you and your wedding party line up against the side of the trolley, or inside with a flute of champagne, cheering to your future happiness. All of a sudden, you’re not in just some bus; you’re in a classic movie where you are the star and every moment is picture perfect.

Limousines and shuttle buses can have a little personality inside, but a standard jet black vehicle is hardly screaming “use me as a backdrop!” for something like wedding transportation or a prom. Trolleys Let You Experience Your Ride

Inside one of our trolleys, you can see the world roll by. Since you rented a trolley knowing you are going to take some stunning photos with them, you probably already plan to roll through some of Louisville’s most iconically beautiful spots—St. James, Old Louisville, or one of our many gorgeous parks. The seating inside our trolleys encourages you to look out of the large, bright windows, so you actually see how pretty Louisville is as well as your wedding party.

In a low-to-the-ground Limousine, or higher up party bus with tinted windows and seats that face inwards, you may see how gorgeous your guests are but you are hardly able to look outside. And since you don’t plan to take photos, I guess you don’t really need to, either!

Trolleys Are Great Those with Access Needs and Children

Our trolleys have something that not every other form of transportation has: the room to stand up! No one, especially older folks or ones with back problems, has to worry about trying to hunch over in a small limousine. Instead, they can find a seat with ease while holding onto the many rails throughout the trolleys.

In addition, two of our trolleys are ADA compliant and equipped with a wheelchair lift for those who need it, making sure you can bring everyone you need to along.

The aforementioned charm of the trolleys are incredible for children as well. Kids love trolleys! They love ringing the bell, the huge windows to see the world rolling by, and how much everyone feels like a kid at heart while riding a trolley. You’re not going to find that using a limo service in Louisville!

When Booking A Trolley May Not Be Your First Choice

Trolleys, like all other things, have their restrictions. We don’t recommend our trolleys for long distances – trolley transportation is about enjoying the journey, not covering a lot of ground quickly (hello, stunning views)!

We don’t take highways, so we are not the fastest choice since our trolleys don’t exceed 55mph. But for savoring a scenic drive, shorter distances, transporting big parties, and all-around vibes, trolleys are the perfect choice!
