FAQ’S About The Haunted Trolley Tour Experience
What will I see and hear on the Haunted Trolley Tour?
You’ll roll through the Victorian mansions of Old Louisville, the historic Highlands, and the haunted heart of Downtown, hearing true stories of murder, tragedy, and the restless spirits said to linger behind Louisville’s grandest facades.
How much walking is involved?
This is a hop-on, hop-off experience: one part trolley tour, one part walking ghost tour. You’ll ride between neighborhoods aboard our historic trolley, then step off with your guide to walk the actual streets, sidewalks, and shadowed corners where these stories took place. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Is the trolley air conditioned or heated?
Typically, yes. Most of our vehicles are fully climate controlled with both A/C and heating. On rare occasions where a non-climate-controlled trolley is in service, or when we get lucky and the weather is just right, we’ll keep you comfortable with hand fans and fresh air through our large arched windows.
Is this tour appropriate for children?
This tour is recommended for guests ages 10 and up due to mature and frightening content, including true stories of murder, death, and tragedy. Parental discretion is advised. (Infants-in-arms are always welcome and do not need a ticket! Bring that baby, and enjoy a night out with us.)
Please note that our later evening departures are 21+ only.
What’s the difference between the earlier and later tours?
Our earlier evening departures are slightly more toned down and open to all ages (with our 10+ recommendation in mind). Our later departures are 21+ only, and include a stop for a drink of your choice at one of Louisville’s own haunted haunts.
Can I bring food and drinks?
You’re welcome to bring not-super-messy snacks and water bottles on board. No outside beverages other than water are permitted during public tours – your included drink stop is where the spirits come in. Please keep things tidy and use the onboard trash can with any food items you bring on board. Our trolleys are cleaned after every tour, but they are historic, and certain things are much trickier to clean than others. We appreciate your help keeping our trolleys clean!
Is the trolley tour handicap accessible?
We can accommodate one wheelchair per tour with advance notice. If we have a heads up, we will ensure the trolley is equipped with our wheelchair lift for your visit. Wheelchair users will be able to remain seated in their wheelchairs during the trolley portions of the tour and will not need to transfer to a seat to board. Please note that because this tour includes walking portions through Old Louisville, the Highlands, and Downtown, guests with mobility needs should contact us in advance so we can help plan accordingly.
Without advance notice, or for non-wheelchair guests with handicap needs: Please note that boarding requires climbing a couple of steps, and you will need to transfer to a seat. If you are unable to transfer, please contact us before booking so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
We cannot guarantee wheelchair accommodation without advance notice, and are unable to store non-folding scooters, walkers, strollers or wheelchairs onboard (though we are always happy to store anything that we can fit onboard!)
Is the tour route always the same?
Almost always. That said, we may occasionally need to alter our route due to road closures, traffic, city events, and other situations beyond our control that make our typical route inaccessible. In these rare cases, we do our best to find alternate haunted stops to feature during our tour.
