About

Hi, we’re Lia and Jeremy Garcia.

Lia grew up riding the historic Toonerville Trolley up and down 4th Street as a kid. Jeremy rode Molly the Trolley through his California hometown. (Every trolley has a name, of course.) When we eventually landed back in Louisville (after a decade of living in the Bay Area, a year-long honeymoon around the world, a best-selling book, and approximately 800 visits to Kentucky that Lia used to slowly convince Jeremy this city was home) starting a tour company felt less like a business decision and more like an inevitability.
We’re professional storytellers who fell in love with Louisville.
Before Old Fashioned Express, Lia and Jeremy built Practical Wanderlust into one of the most-read travel blogs in the world, helping millions of travelers plan trips to every corner of the globe. We’ve been featured in Forbes, Travel + Leisure, The Washington Post, and CNN. But after years of traversing the globe and telling the story of everywhere else, we wanted to tell the story of just one place: Louisville, Lia’s hometown. After all, there’s no place like home, and Louisville just so happens to be a magical place to call home.
Telling the story of Louisville is what led us to create our Louisville-focused blog Let’s Go Louisville, our award-winning tour company Louisville Food Tours, and now, Old Fashioned Express. We love telling the story of Louisville one bite, and street, at a time.

Next Stop: Old Fashioned Express
Louisville Food Tours was born from a simple idea: that the best way to fall in love with a city is to walk its streets, taste its food, and hear its stories. Lia brings the storyteller’s instinct – the ability to make history feel alive, personal, and a little bit funny. Jeremy brings the educator’s gift – the knack for making you feel like you learned something profound without ever feeling like you’re in class. Together, those two things make for a pretty great tour.
But walking tours, by their nature, have limits. There are neighborhoods you can’t reach on foot, stories you can’t tell without crossing the city, and let’s be honest, plenty of people who’d love to experience Louisville’s history without logging 10,000 steps to do it.
Old Fashioned Express is the natural next chapter: the same storytelling, the same love for this city, just with a little more horsepower and a lot more legroom. From the grand Victorians of Old Louisville to the tree-covered boulevards of the Highlands, our trolleys bring everyone along for the ride.
